Announcing 2019 Midnight Circus in the Parks Tour!

Midnight Circus is back for our 13th year of Bringing Circus to the People!

We are excited to return to many of our past parks, as well as welcoming three new parks to the 2019 Tour – Jefferson, Foster and Mozart!

Jefferson Park is located right in the heart of its community on the Northwest side of Chicago. It has multiple sport fields on nearly eight acres, and hosts the rehearsal space for the all-volunteer Citywide Orchestra. The park also offers piano, violin, and cello lessons. Across the way is the Ed Paschke Art Center which houses the Chicago native’s work and serves as an exhibit space for other artists.

Foster Park is situated in the Auburn Gresham community. It is named after Frank Foster who was a pioneer in developing public parks. He is credited with starting the nation’s first field houses which offered recreational programs, English lessons, the city’s first branch libraries, and more. President Teddy Roosevelt declared Foster’s park concepts as “the most important civic achievement in any American City.” Today, the park sits on 23 acres with fields, two gymnasiums, and a field house which offers after school and other programs.

Mozart Park is named after Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Though not a Chicago native, the decision to name the park after the Austrian composer came from the popular vote of Chicago school children in 1915. Nestled in the Logan Square community, the park has over five acres suited for a number of activities and offers programs for preschoolers up to senior citizens. In the Summer, Mozart Park is known for showing Spanish-language outdoor films as part of the Movies in the Parks series.

Our 2019 Circus in the Parks Tour includes 36 shows across 9 parks, with many more partnering parks joining in — featuring world-class performers from all over the globe, and of course, some from right here in Chicago!
