Tour Recap and Exciting News!
First and foremost, we want to thank everyone who supported Midnight Circus in putting on our 2020 Open-Air Tour through donating, volunteering, sponsoring, or putting on a mask and coming to a show! This year especially, we continue to be amazed and grateful for how our community comes together to bring the magic of circus to people all over the city. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Every Saturday for four weeks we were able to share joy, laughter, love, and community building. We got to reconnect with old friends who offered their time to volunteer, and made some great new friends too! Inside the ring, it was evident by the look on our performers' faces how overjoyed they were to perform in our beautiful Chicago Parks once again. Outside the ring, laughter, applause and gratitude from people of all ages from all across our city. Chicago at it’s best.
This was probably our most challenging year to date, but possibly the most rewarding. We were able to safely and responsibly put on live shows in a time where live performance feels like a distant memory. The circus looked different this year— the tent replaced with safety rope and socially distant seating pods, but it made us reflect on the importance of our mission.
Live performance, art, and storytelling need to be accessible to all, and living through this time of isolation highlights how important it is to continue to do what we do — bring accessible, equitable circus to every corner of Chicago, and especially to communities that are overlooked and underfunded.
We are more motivated than ever to continue our mission and are excited for our 2021 Tour, in whatever form it may take. Until then stay safe, stay strong & VOTE!
