Hello from the Midnight Circus Family

Our Midnight Circus family is spread out across the globe and keeping busy while staying safe at home. Dom and Nancy are tackling new recipes, and others like Aerial are spending their days doing their favorite hobbies— In Aerial’s case this means knitting a closet’s worth of sweaters right as summer approaches, with a particularly fabulous sweater for Bean, her rescued dog!

Our acrobats are still hard at work staying in shape and training while social distancing. Kia is enjoying her time outdoors working out in the sun, and Mic and Kat are sticking to a tried and true circus method — lifting people over and over. Devin and family seem to be getting their exercise in by practicing and perfecting Tik Tok dances. The Jenkins family has been keeping busy on the backyard trampoline, making music and raising food and funds for The Friendship Center.

A lot of the Midnight Circus family members are using this time to work on their own projects. Eric Bates is creating cigar box juggling tutorials on his YouTube page where he gives step by step instructions on tricks for all levels. Book Kennison has been juggling and performing in virtual shows out of his apartment. He is also hard at work producing music for upcoming albums— the last song on the video is produced by Book, titled ‘Museum of Everyday Life’ under the name Zobot, and is available on Spotify and Apple Music.

Finally, Abby Suskin, The Midnight Circus resident choreographer and movement expert, is using her time in quarantine to help efforts on the front line. She is teaching online pilates classes and donating 50% of proceeds to NYC hospitals, specifically Lincoln Hospital in the South Bronx, where friend of Midnight Circus Zachary Pope is an ER resident. Abby is an incredible instructor and her classes are a wonderful way to stay moving while cooped up at home. For more information on Abby and her classes visit, abbysuskin.com

We hope this newsletter is able to spread a little joy to you and your family. Our mission at Midnight Circus has always been to bring communities together, and even though we are all apart right now we still feel close as ever to our wonderful Chicago community.

Be sure to follow Midnight Circus on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter  for all the latest circus updates, and more importantly—puppy videos! The Jenkins Family recently rescued two Pitbull pups who are learning from veteran circus performer Rosie Rae, and you don’t want to miss these stars in the making.

Stay safe! We look forward to seeing you soon.
